ENGLISH PAGES THE PROGRAMS
The Seminary offers two basic study tracks: Theology AL (with biblical languages, Greek and Hebrew) or Theology SL (without biblical languages). These studies prepare students for one of four university degrees: Bachelors of Theology (Master of Divinity), Master in Theology and PhD. The Bachelors program is open to Christian students in possession of the baccalaureate (or equivalent qualification). To be enrolled in either study track and at any level, candidates must have Faculty approval. Classes are held at the Seminary of Aix-en-Provence. Single students may rent a room in the residence – an opportunity for living in a Christian community. Classes start in mid-September for first-year students or in early October for all others. Exams in mid-June complete the academic year. During the month of February, the students do an internship/placement in a Church or a Christian organization. Studying on campus provides students with various advantages: · Interactive teaching conducive to dialogue between staff and students. · Development of practical skills. · Quality pastoral supervision. · Oportunities for contacts with students from many different backgrounds. (The Aix-Marseille university campus is just next door). For prospective students unable to leave their family, their job, distance learning offers a full program of theological training.
The requirements are the same as for any other students. Distance learning leads to the same university degrees as for resident students. Generally, the program may be completed in six years for the Bachelors and two years for the Masters degrees. A student at Bachelors level must set aside approximately twenty hours per week and be present in Aix on three occasions throughout the year. This program is for students who want to choose their courses to suit their own personal or professional objectives, and to study at their own pace. This flexibility allows a student: · To study on campus in Aix-en-Provence, or through distance learning (within the specific framework of this program). · To choose one or more subjects (Old Testament, New Testament, Systematic Theology, Practical Theology, Church History, Christian Ethics, Apologetics...). This one-year program is for young people who have completed the baccalaureate (or equivalent qualification). It is designed for those who are undecided about future university studies and who wish to spend a year in biblical and theological studies. A year of discovery, time out for finding one’s way in life… · Basic biblical and theological training. · Preparation for university studies. · Pastoral guidance. · An internship/placement in a Church or Christian organisation. © 2007 FLTR.
